Who We Are
By John Pierce, Founder of Father & Sun Solar Energy
I grew up like most American men, thinking it was normal to open the mailbox, see another power bill, and just pay it. No questions asked. The price climbed every year, but what choice did we have?
That all changed in September 2022.
Hurricane Ian slammed Florida. The grid collapsed. My family and I were left in total darkness for two straight weeks. Temperatures inside our Fort Myers home hit 120 °F. No AC. No fridge. No escape.
I watched my five-year-old daughter Lisa collapse in my arms from dehydration and heat exhaustion, her lips cracked, barely whispering "Daddy, it's so hot..." before she went limp. In that moment I thought I'd lost her. Thank God the paramedics got to us in time—but I'll never forget the feeling of total helplessness, realizing I had no way to protect my own family in our own home.
When the power finally came back, I made myself a promise: never again would I put my family's safety in the hands of a fragile grid and a utility company that doesn't care if we live or die.
I installed solar panels and a battery backup system. When the next storm hit, my neighbors sat in the dark while my lights stayed on, my fridge kept running, and my daughter slept soundly in a cool, safe room.
That's why I started Father & Sun Solar Energy.
Because every father should have the power to protect his family. Every homeowner deserves energy independence. And no American should ever feel helpless in their own home again.
We're not just installing solar panels—we're giving families their power back.
